Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of FreeRange Assets, an asset-tracking service that lets organizations record, label, and manage their physical assets. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms on your own behalf and, if you are acting for an organization, on that organization's behalf.

2. The service

FreeRange Assets provides asset records with QR/barcode tags and printable labels, check-out/check-in tracking, sites, locations, categories, departments, custom fields, photos, activity history, dashboards and reports, data import (including from AssetTiger exports), and CSV export. It runs in a web browser, including the browser on a phone, where the same account is used to scan tags. We may improve or change features over time; we will not materially reduce the core service you rely on without notice.

3. Accounts and organizations

• You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure.
• Data in FreeRange Assets is organized by organization. Organization owners and admins control who can join and what roles members hold.
• You can create more than one organization. Each plan includes a number of free organizations; an organization created beyond that allowance exists but cannot hold assets until it has a subscription of its own. Organizations you are invited to never count against your allowance.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. Plans, billing, and limits

• The free plan is free indefinitely, up to its asset limit, with unlimited users. It is not a trial.
• Paid plans raise the asset limit and the daily import and export allowances. They are billed to your organization through Stripe, monthly or annually, as chosen at checkout. Prices are shown on the pricing page.
• You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. On downgrade or cancellation your data is not deleted; if you are over your new plan's asset limit you can still view all of it and export your records as described in section 5, but cannot add assets until you are under the limit.
• Plan limits are enforced by the service. These include the asset cap, the number of custom fields, the number of free organizations one account may own, and the number of CSV exports (5 on the free plan, up to 20) and completed imports (3 on the free plan, up to 15) an organization may run per day. We may adjust limits for future plans, but will not retroactively shrink what your current plan covers.

5. Your data

• Your organization owns the data it enters: asset records, photos, custom fields, and history. We claim no ownership of it.
• You can export your asset records as CSV on any plan, including the free plan. The export covers the record data — assets, sites, locations, categories, departments, people, customers, warranties and maintenances — in the same column layout the import reads. Photos and activity history are not included in the CSV export; they remain yours and are viewable in the app. Exports are subject to the daily allowance in section 4.
• We process your data only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell it.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to store unlawful content, to infringe others' rights, to attempt to access other organizations' data, or to probe, overload, or disrupt the service. We may suspend accounts that do, after notice where practicable.

7. Availability and disclaimer

We work to keep the service available and your data intact, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Keep your own exports of data you cannot afford to lose — we make that easy on purpose.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FreeRange Assets and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or $50 if you are on the free plan).

9. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your organization at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for material breach of these terms. In either case, you have the ability to export your data before deletion; after deletion, data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes, we will notify account owners by email before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
