AssetTiger's free plan went view-only. Your assets don't have to pay for it.
FreeRange Assets reads your AssetTiger export files as they are — columns map automatically, each file imports in minutes — and stays free for up to 250 assets with unlimited users. Forever, on purpose.
No credit card · your data exports back out again, 5 times a day on the free plan
What happened
For years, AssetTiger offered a free tier that thousands of schools, nonprofits, and small teams built their asset tracking on. That free tier now converts to view-only after a trial period — your records stay visible, but adding, editing, and checking assets in or out requires a paid subscription. That's their call to make, and this page isn't here to argue with it.
It's here because a lot of teams suddenly needed somewhere to go. So we built the escape hatch: FreeRange Assets accepts AssetTiger's own export file, maps its columns automatically, and keeps a free tier at the same 250-asset mark their free plan used to cover — with unlimited users, and no plans to pull the ladder up later.
Three steps, one file at a time
No re-keying, no consultant, no migration project. Just your own export files, read back.
Export from AssetTiger
Download the standard exports you already have access to: your asset list, plus the sites, locations, categories, people and other lists behind it — up to 10 files for a complete inventory.
Upload to FreeRange Assets
Drop a file into the import wizard. AssetTiger's column headers are recognized and mapped automatically — you review and confirm, then move to the next file.
Keep working
Your tags, locations, and assignments carry over as each file lands. Free for up to 250 assets, with unlimited users.
One honest detail: imports are metered by the day. The free plan takes 3 a day, so a full 10-file inventory arrives over a few days — assets first, the rest behind them. Paid plans take 6–15 a day, and from Business up that is all 10 in one sitting.
What comes across
The import brings over the records your team actually depends on:
- Asset tags & IDs
- Descriptions & serial numbers
- Purchase info (dates, costs, vendors)
- Sites & locations
- Categories & departments
- Assignments (who has what)
- Statuses (available, checked out, etc.)
- Custom fields

We don't track AssetTiger's current price list — check their site for exact figures. The relevant fact is simpler: theirs now starts with a paid subscription, and ours doesn't.

Fair questions
Is the import really compatible with AssetTiger?
Yes — it was built for AssetTiger exports specifically. The import wizard recognizes AssetTiger's column headers and maps them automatically; you review the mapping before anything is written, and any column we don't recognize can be mapped by hand or brought in as a custom field. Nothing imports until you confirm.
What if I have more than 250 assets?
Then the free plan won't hold your whole inventory, and we'd rather say so than surprise you. Paid plans raise the cap: Starter covers 1,000 assets for $15/month, Business 10,000 for $39/month, and Enterprise 100,000 for $99/month. Users stay unlimited on every plan either way.
How long does the whole migration take?
Each file imports in minutes — the wait is the daily allowance, not the machine. A complete AssetTiger inventory is up to 10 files, and the free plan accepts 3 imports a day, so a full migration spans a few days. Paid plans move faster: 6 a day on Starter, and 10 on Business or 15 on Enterprise — enough to land all 10 in one sitting. Failed imports don't count against the allowance, so a bad file costs you nothing but a retry.
Can I leave again?
Yes. Every plan — including Free — has full CSV export of your records, in a column layout compatible with the file you imported (5 exports a day on Free, up to 20 on Enterprise). You switched once because your data got stuck behind a decision you didn't make; we're not going to run that play on you.
